In September heads of state are going to New York City for a historic summit on climate change. With our future on the line, we will take a weekend and use it to bend the course of history.
Just before the summit in New York City there will be an unprecedented climate event – in size, beauty, and impact – the People’s Climate March. The march will not be just about New York or the United States, however. Heads of state from around the world will be there, as will the attention of global media. This is a time for global mobilisation!
20-21 September: Join the People’s Climate Mobilisation where you live.
Our demand is for Action, Not Words: take the action necessary to create a world with an economy that works for people and the planet – now. In short, we want a world safe from the ravages of climate change.
We know that no single meeting or summit will “solve climate change” and in many ways this moment will not even really be about the summit. We want this moment to be about us – the people who are standing up in our communities, to organise, to build power, to confront the power of fossil fuels, and to shift power to a just, safe, peaceful world.
To do that, we need to act – together. Visit peoplesclimate.org to find more information on how you can start or join an event where you live for the weekend of 20-21 September.
Since the time of our first ever global day of climate action in 2009, the world has changed in some dramatic ways. One of the big changes has been just how vibrant and resilient the climate movement itself has become. Now it’s time for us to take it a step further.
Circle it on your calendar: September 20-21 – the People’s Climate Mobilisation and then let’s keep the momentum going!

We are excited to see so many of you getting together to organise and join events in your communities. Events are streaming in on the event map from all around the world – from the Philippines to France, Burundi to Brazil – this is going to be huge!
And huge is what we need it to be in order to show the heads of state attending the Climate Summit in New York in September that we demand Action, Not Words on climate – we are standing up in our communities, to organise, to build power, to confront the power of fossil fuels, and to shift power to a just, safe, peaceful world.
Which is exactly what the below video is about – we, the people, are going to make history on climate change, again. Click on the image below and watch the video:
