Time: 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
The privatisation of seeds is part of a much more general trend: the conversion of life and the planet into money. Charles will describe how our economic system drives this trend, how this system rests on an even deeper “story of the world,” and how that story is disintegrating in our time. What will replace it? The movement to bring seeds back into the commons is part of a new story, a transformation in our relationship to the planet, and a revolution in our sense of self.
Charles Eisenstein is a speaker and writer focusing on themes of human culture and identity. He is the author of several books, most recently Sacred Economics and The More Beautiful World our Hearts Know is Possible. His background includes a degree in mathematics and philosophy from Yale, a decade in Taiwan as a translator, and stints as a college instructor, a yoga teacher, and a construction worker. He currently writes and speaks full-time.
