GPIW and a delegation of faith leaders to join thousands of NGOs from around the world in Paris for the 21st UNFCCC Conference of Parties -Climate Change Conference http://www.cop21.gouv.fr/en

Through small and large programs, international dialogues, think tanks and bringing a spiritual presence and voice to high level international gatherings such as the Climate Summits, G20 Summits as well as to areas of conflict, GPIW has helped provide a global platform to explore the contributions of spiritual thinkers on critical
concerns. With over 100 gatherings and conferences on issues including peacebuilding, environment, new economic models, young leaders training, community building, and healing from conflict, we have explored deeply how inner wisdom and contemplative practice can guide our outward actions and be a force for change.

There is an urgency to join collective wisdom on all levels; from the UN and government negotiators, civil society,
business and the spiritual communities, working together for social change directed from a place of greater self-awareness and inner wisdom. With the recent Encyclical of H.H. Pope Francis, the windows have been thrown open for the global spiritual community to act with strength and clarity from a place of deep care for the Earth, reminding our human family of the moral and ethical stand we must now awaken in everyone in order to protect the fragile ecosystems and the natural beauty of the planet. We believe it is the wisdom leaders who have the ability to inspire and instill in the human community the shift of the heart, in our way of seeing the Earth that is needed at this moment in time.

“The Earth needs both physical and spiritual attention and awareness, our acts and prayers, our hands and hearts. Life is a self-sustaining organic whole of which we are a part, and once we reconnect with this whole we can find a different way to live —one that is not based upon a need for continual distraction and the illusions of material fulfillment, but rather a way to live that is sustainingfor the whole. And this way to live in harmony with all of creation has at its core a remembrance, an awareness, of the sacred nature of creation, which is also our own sacred nature.

Hearing the cry of the Earth we are drawn together from all corners of the world, from different religions and spiritual paths. And in response we bring the single voice of our love for the Earth. May we remember our role as guardians of the Earth, custodian of itssacred ways, and return once again to live in harmony with its natural rhythms and laws.” Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee
