Disco Isobho 2017

The food waste challenge
Disco-Isobho is Durb’s version of the Disco Soup. Which is a new global movement that aims to inspire action against food waste. Each disco soup event sees hundreds of kilos of unused vegetables taken from markets, bakeries, farms and restaurants to be recycled. The produce is then turned into soup, with any surplus soup going out into communities & charities.

Moreover, it is a gastronomic, artistic and musical event that brings together young people, students, children, elderly, cooks and all the supporters of the battle against food waste & hunger.

Objectives
(1) Network with local food produces and suppliers
(2) Save food from going to waste
(3) Create awareness around food waste
(4) Bring communities together
(5) Forming community parnterships
(6) Most importantly to have FUN!

We hope you take up the challenge and join us on the day. Disco Isobho will also tie in with the ‘activation’ event in support of World Food Day. The event programme includes: initiating a ‘Door Size Food Garden’ in every home in Chatsworth & Welbedact – inviting all residents to a workshop at the youth centre – setting up an actual food garden and showing them how to go about creating one.

There also be live cooking demos, food stalls, and much much more! Chop Dance Eat!
