On 13th of October, 2016 at Navdanya Bija Vidyapeeth also known as Earth University, hosted a People’s Assembly with 40 people from around the globe (India, Wales, Australia, Germany, France, USA, Switzerland, Japan, Bhutan, Mexico, Canada, Ethiopia, Brazil and Italy).

17 years ago, On June 5th 1999, Mandakini Milan was declared during the first JaivPanchayat Assembly was organised in Agastyamuni on the bank of Holy river Mandakini, Uttarkhand, India.

From a century of genocide and ecocide by war-based corporations to the future of seed freedom, based on rights of nature and rights of humanity.  Navdanya sole journey for last three decades has been against these corporations, on living seed, living soil, living food and living community.

The people’s assembly was a platform for people from around the world to be the change they want to see in the world. It was a ground breaking assembly followed by People’s assembly in Hague (14-16th October, 2016) and came back to India on 19th October 2016.

Pledges taken by people around the world were-

  • Public Service Announcement (PSA) with videos on agroecology
  • Introducing gardens in school and creating awareness on food
  • Stop consumerism
  • Boycott Monsanto & byer
  • Urban gardens
  • Market farmers
  • Support organic farmer
  • Regenerative community
  • Local action on creating spaces to bring people together
